FREEDM researchers combined smart meter data with other utility data sets to develop several tools for distribution transformer management. These tools provide an overloading risk assessment, estimated useful life, and underloaded transformer cost/benefit reassignment. The presentation will review data analysis, data quality, and the risk of overloading transformers. This development was funded by the DEED program of the American Public Power Association with data provided by Electricities of North Carolina.
