Partners
FREEDM works closely with our industry members, other universities, and associations to advance grid modernization.
Become a Member
Corporations join the Center for three main reasons:
- Innovation: Our faculty and students generate novel solutions to hard problems, and our members gain early access to those ideas by working closely with us. Members also have right of first refusal for licensing intellectual property from some of our research.
- Collaboration: Although some members compete in certain markets, they all find value in working on fundamental research that benefits everyone. In addition, FREEDM faculty look first to our members for collaboration on federal grants.
- Talent: Members recruit our students for internships and full time positions when they graduate.
All members have representation on our Industry Advisory Board which provides guidance on research directions and approves some research funding. Full Members have the most votes on the Board and an option to sponsor a student fellowship at a steep discount. All members have reduced fees for lab use and discounts for FREEDM events. Please email our Industry Liaison at Ken_Dulaney@ncsu.edu for more information on membership.
